Corporate Social Responsibility.

Our commitment to sustainable development, the world around us and our people.

We recognise that good corporate social responsibility embraces all aspects of sustainable development and the way we affect people and the environment through our business operations. We build our business for the long term by balancing social, environmental and economic considerations in the decisions we make.

Responsibility: Taking care of our people.

Our partner manufacturing sites, based in China, follow the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) audit protocol which is the standard for inclusion in the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex). Being members of the global Sedex organisation ensures we drive improvements in ethical and responsible business practices in the global supply chain.

We work closely with the factories to ensure a continuous improvement plan is maintained at all sites.

Sourcing: A committed supply chain

Tinplate Products Ltd has committed to purchase supplies that originate from refiners and smelters which conform to the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI). We have chosen to do this to further certify that our supply chain contributes positively to social-economic development and we are taking good-faith steps towards this goal. Our relevant direct suppliers share our commitment, supplying only responsibly sourced minerals and performing due diligence by completing up-to-date reports.

Environmental Responsibility .

We’re sure you’ll agree that tinplate is a fantastic choice for packaging, not only for its functionality, but because of its sustainable credentials too. Tin packaging is infinitely recyclable and although it’s not possible to substantiate the exact percentage of recycled steel in our tins, you can relax knowing that the material is part of a circular economy process. Our tins can be recycled with products from other applications, such as materials from the automotive industry, then are made back into steel for a whole variety of product uses. It is part of a virtuous circle, so even when a product may reach the end of its life, the metal hasn’t. In fact, around 80% of all metals ever produced are still around today*. Tin packaging is a highly sustainable choice and can be kept as a household item for years, along with being repurposed for other uses during its lifespan. We are proud to work with companies who have the same values as us and have also chosen tin packaging for their eco-friendly products, knowing that we are helping to change the marketplace away from single use packaging. *Source: Metal Packaging Europe, sustainability report.
