Our commitment to sustainable development, the world around us and our people.
We recognise that good corporate social responsibility embraces all aspects of sustainable development and the way we affect people and the environment through our business operations. We build our business for the long term by balancing social, environmental, and economic considerations in the decisions we make.
Our partner manufacturing sites, based in China, follow the Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit (SMETA) audit protocol, which is the standard for inclusion in the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex). Being members of the global Sedex organisation helps ensure we continue to drive improvements in ethical and responsible business practices across the global supply chain.
We work closely with the factories to ensure a continuous improvement plan is maintained at all sites.
Tinplate Products Ltd has committed to purchasing supplies that originate from refiners and smelters which conform to the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI). We have chosen to do this to further support a supply chain that contributes positively to socio economic development, and we are taking good faith steps towards this goal. Our relevant direct suppliers share this commitment, supplying only responsibly sourced minerals and carrying out due diligence by completing up to date reports.
We’re sure you’ll agree that tinplate is a fantastic choice for packaging, not only for its functionality, but for its sustainable credentials too. Tin packaging is infinitely recyclable and, although it is not possible to substantiate the exact percentage of recycled steel in our tins, you can be confident that the material is part of a circular economy process. Our tins can be recycled alongside products from other applications, such as materials from the automotive industry, and then made back into steel for a wide variety of uses. It is part of a virtuous circle, so even when a product may reach the end of its life, the metal itself has not. In fact, around 80% of all metals ever produced are still around today*. Tin packaging is a highly sustainable choice and can be kept as a household item for years, as well as repurposed for other uses throughout its lifespan. We are proud to work with companies that share the same values as us and have also chosen tin packaging for their eco friendly products, knowing that together we are helping to shift the marketplace away from single use packaging.
